Last year, co-owner of NightRider jewelry was surprised to learn that one of his pieces adorn the cover of the magazine Vanity Fair . Tempe-based jewelry of silver and black, the fire giant skull pendant worn by actor Johnny Depp on the cover of the Magazine November 2011 issue.
The news comes from Alice Cooper, who bought the piece and give it to Depp as a gift. Phoenix rocker called Ballantyne, which was launched in 2007 with his twin brother NightRider Thad and father-in-law, George Ganem, founder of Ganem jewelry.
The company has production facilities in Tempe and retail locations in Scottsdale. It is seeking to open a second retail store this year.
Nick Ballantyne said he was surprised but not fazed by the attention and international recognition. He enjoys knowing that NightRider ring, bracelets, pendants and buckles captured the attention of the customer are low, too.
